Merchants Square

Not much is known about the buildings which occupied this
section during the colonial era. Colonial Williamsburg
converted the motley array of shops, restaurants, and theatres
already in existence into a shopping area, sometimes retaining
the original buildings but reworking their façades. Merchants
Square comprises (roughly) the two blocks bounded by Boundary
Street on the west, Henry Street on the east, Prince George Street
on the north, and Francis Street on the south, with minor
extensions past its boundaries in various places.
