A "real photo" of a watercolor painting of the Lake Matoaka
Amphitheatre, 1947 (artist unknown). It was constructed to show
Paul Green's play, "The Common Glory," which it did from 1946 to
1976, after which the amphitheatre fell prey to general neglect.
The play is slated to be performed again in the restored
amphitheatre soon.



The painting received a few additions in a 1949 version produced
by Virginia Printing Company:
