An ox-cart near the corner of Duke of Gloucester Street and Nassau
Street. Produced by J. H. Stone circa 1907 and again by Curt Teich in
June, 1928. The house on the right is the 1858 Bowden-Armistead House,
just west of Bruton Parish Church. The wrought-iron fence was made in
Richmond. An alternate form bears the caption "Rapid Transit."
In this close-up, I suspect that the dark spot in the
background was the VEPCO tower. The local cart driver was likely
Reverend Robinson, as mentioned in the records of Dr. Carlton
Casey donated to William & Mary's Swem Library.
