The Powder Magazine in 1916. The building on the left is a bit of
a mystery, but on the right (see closeup #1) was Ayer's Garage. In
the far background, on England Street, can be seen Tazewell Hall
(see closeup #2 and the photograph at the bottom) in its original
location. It was located where the Tazewell wing of the Williamsburg
Lodge now stands (the original building was dismantled, stored
in a Williamsburg warehouse, and then reconstructed in Newport
News by Mr. McMurran. As far as I know, it is still located on
Riverside Drive in Newport News).
