Green Shingle Inn in Toano, just up the road from Williamsburg.
It served as McClellan's headquarters during the American Civil War.
It was located a few blocks north of the center of Toano, on Route 60,
across from the present fire station and where Old Forge Road turns
west. In the late 1930s and early 1940s it served as a boarding house.
Single teachers lived there as boarders. It burned down sometime
during the 1940s.
