The John Blair house circa 1909. It was probably built between 1745
and 1747, with the western expansion added around 1809. According to local
tradition, the stone steps were borrowed from the first theatre in America,
once located on the Palace green - hence the erroneous caption.
I do not know the identity of the building on the left, but the site is
currently occupied by the Bruton Parish Book and Gift shop and the Parish House.
