Bruton Parish Church c. 1907, along with Pocahontas' baptismal
font and the tomb of Martha Washington's children. All of these

This message reads, "Mrs. Burton Kind Friend this is the oldest church
now in use in America they had big doings there last Saturday the King of
England presented them with a gold Bible and the president gave them a Bronze
stand to lay it on am feeling fine with love, Mrs. Dorr.
" the bronze
stand referred to is a lectern presented to the church by Teddy Roosevelt,
and the bible was presented by King Edward VII (see both below).
